About Savannah

The oldest city in Georgia, Savannah was established in 1733. Now the state’s fifth largest city, it is an important seaport and industrial center. Savannah is classified as a humid subtropical climate, with warm summers and cold winters. Its beautiful cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and lush parks contribute to the city’s natural allure. Savannah has a reputation for southern hospitality, and it’s architecture. The city is also known for it’s various historic buildings and monuments, such as churches, synagogues, homes, parks, and squares.

Savannah also has a rich history in music and arts. Musically, the city is known for it’s Coastal Jazz Association, Savannah Children’s Choir, and Savannah Orchestra, among others. Artistically, Savannah has a very active theater community, with Muse Arts Warehouse, the Savannah Children’s Theatre, and The Savannah Theatre, their only fully professional resident theater. If you’re one to enjoy night life, Savannah has a few well known watering holes such as Pirates’ House, and Pinkie Masters Bar. If you enjoy a good festival, Savannah is also famous for it’s Saint Patrick’s Day Celebrations, which are reminiscent of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras.
